#10 Keith Richards


The writer of hundreds of songs (by himself or with his band mate Mick Jagger), Keith Richards is considered one of the greatest guitar players of all time. Born in 1943 in Dartford, England, he helped create the Rolling Stones in 1962.








#9 Jimmy Page

One of the most famous guitar players in the world, Jimmy Page was born in 1944 in Heston, England. Always present in the English rock scene, Page was a member of the band The Yardbirds, which he left to create one of the most influential bands of all time: Led Zeppelin.







#8 Ry Cooder

Born in Los Angeles, USA in 1947, Ryland Peter Cooder is famous for his skill in the slide guitar technique, in which a slide is placed on the musician’s finger to get a unique sound from the instrument’s strings. He has played with Taj Mahal, Van Morrison and the Rolling Stones, besides being featured in the soundtracks of movies such as “Paris, Texas” (1984) and “Buena Vista Social Club” (1999).

Born in 1954 in Dallas, USA, Stevie Ray became famous for exhibiting his virtuoso guitar-playing style. With the band Double Trouble, he had a brilliant career until his death in a 1990 helicopter accident.

Born in St. Louis in 1926, Chuck Berry is a rock and roll pioneer, with hits such as “Johnny B. Goode”, “Sweet Little Sixteen” and “Maybelline”, which were recorded by countless other artists. This singer and songwriter is also known for his “Duck Walk” dance, in which he jumps on one leg and moves the other in a back-and-forth motion.

Famous for the story according to which he had made a pact with the devil for his guitar-playing gift, Robert Johnson had a career that lasted less than 10 years. Born in 1911 in Hazlehurst, USA, he passed away in 1938, when he was 27 years old and had recorded only 27 songs in two studio sessions.

Born in 1946 in Nashville, USA, this guitar player combined his country music influences with a strong rock and roll vein, becoming one the greatest slide guitar masters in the world. A co-founder of the band Allman Brothers, he died in a 1971 motorcycle accident.
